Over a period of 6 months, the Matawai women produced about 1200 herbal soaps, defective soap bars were recycled into shower gel and shampoo, using suitable herbs that are effective in treating sensitive skin and promoting hair growth or strengthening and nourishing the hair. As we had collected and dried the herbs anyway, we processed the surplus into teas. All of this was only possible with funding from the Schmidt Foundation for the “Building a sustainable soap production project”. However, we must not forget our German partners from Aulaterra e.V., who supported Babel Food Resort Foundation and thus the women until the funding was approved and beyond.
